Bayer Elanco cat collars are made from an innovative combination of materials (polymer matrix) that guarantees a continuous, controlled release of both active ingredients for up to 8 months. This ensures that cats get the continuous protection they need against fleas and ticks.

Fleas and ticks can become a problem for you and your cat if you don't pay attention, and remembering to give regular treatments every month is not always easy.

The Bayer Elanco cat collar eliminates fleas and also repels ticks before they can bite, with a single application lasting up to eight months. It is suitable for both adult cats and kittens from 10 weeks of age.

What it does
Bayer Elanco eliminates fleas, killing and repelling ticks before they bite. In particular, Bayer Elanco reduces the risk of transmission of infantile leishmaniasis (leishmaniasis) transmitted by haemophagous worms or parasites for up to 8 months and indirectly reduces the risk of transmission of canine ehrlichiosis and canine babesiosis for up to 7 months due to its inhibitory effect on ticks.
Bayer Elanco Anti-Parasite Collar:
1. provides protection against flea and tick bites for up to 8 months and reduces the risk of transmission of canine leishmaniasis.
2. Eliminates ticks before they bite.
3. eliminates flea larvae around treated animals.
4. is odourless.
5. May occasionally come into contact with water.

How does Seresto Collar work?

1. Take the Bayer Elanco cat collar out of the box, making sure to also remove the plastic connector inside the collar. Place the collar around the cat's neck and insert the ends into the two rings.
2. Adjust the collar so that it is not too tight, leaving about two fingers of space between the collar and the cat's neck.

3. If the excess after the last loop is more than 2 cm, cut it off.

4. Check the collar regularly and adjust the size if necessary, especially if the kitten is growing rapidly.

5. The collar is equipped with a safety locking device.
On the rare occasions when a cat becomes entangled, the animal's strength is usually sufficient to stretch the collar and allow it to break free quickly.

Active ingredient
One 38 cm collar (12.5 g) contains 1.25 g of imidacloprid and 0.56 g of cyfluthrin as active ingredients.
See Section 6.1 for a complete list of excipients.

Excipients:
Titanium dioxide (E 171), black iron oxide (E 172), dibutyl adipate, propylene glycol diglycidyl ester, epoxidised soybean oil, stearic acid, polyvinyl chloride.

Medication group:
Topical insecticide, pesticide and repellent, based on pyrethroids and pyrethroids, in combination with cyfluthrin.

Contraindications
Do not use on puppies under 7 weeks of age. Do not use in animals hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the excipients.
Dosage and route of administration
Please read the package insert. For use on the skin. A collar must be placed around the animal's neck. For external use only.
Storage
The veterinary drug does not require any special storage conditions. Expiry date of the packaged veterinary drug: 5 years

Indications:
1. Cats: for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (feline pectinophora) for 7-8 months.
2. Protects the environment and animals from flea larvae for 10 weeks.
3. Bayer Elanco can be used as part of a therapeutic strategy to control flea dermatitis allergy (DAP).
4. The product has sustained acaricidal (killing) efficacy (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus turanicus) and tick repellent (preventing feeding) efficacy (Ixodes ricinus) for up to 8 months.
5. The product is effective against larvae, warts and adult ticks.
6. Ticks already present on the cat prior to treatment may not be killed within 48 hours of application of the collar and remain attached and visible.
7. It is therefore recommended that ticks are removed from the cat when using the product.
8. Prevention of new tick infestations begins within two days of using the collar.

Contraindications/Side Effects:
Do not treat kittens under 10 weeks of age.
Do not use in animals that are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the excipients.

Safety for target species:
Given the nature of the collars, overdose is unlikely and symptoms of overdose will not occur .

In the unlikely event that the collar is accidentally ingested by the animal, mild gastrointestinal signs (e.g. softening of faeces) may occur.

Route of use/administration
Dermal use.
Only one collar should be placed around the animal's neck.

Storage:
The veterinary drug does not require any special storage conditions.
Expiry date of the veterinary drug sold in packages: 5 years.

Warning:
1. Ticks are usually killed and dislodged from the host within 24-48 hours of infection and do not take a blood meal. However, the possibility that individual ticks may attack after treatment cannot be excluded. Therefore, the possibility of tick-borne infectious diseases cannot be completely ruled out under unfavourable conditions.

2. Ideally, collars should be applied before the start of the flea or tick season. As with all topical products used over a long period of time, a slight and temporary reduction in efficacy may occur during periods of excessive seasonal hair loss due to the loss of certain hair-related active ingredients. The active ingredients in the collar are immediately reintegrated into the product, restoring full efficacy without the need for additional treatments or replacement of the collar.

3. For homes with severe flea problems, it may be necessary to treat the environment with an appropriate insecticide for optimal control. The product is water-resistant and remains effective even if the animal gets wet. However, prolonged and massive exposure to water and vigorous washing with shampoo should be avoided, as they may reduce the duration of efficacy. Studies have shown that monthly washing with shampoo or soaking in water does not significantly reduce the efficacy of the product until 8 months after the active ingredient has redistributed in the coat, while the efficacy of the product gradually decreases from the fifth month onwards.

3. Special precautions to be taken by persons administering veterinary medicines to animals: keep the bag containing the collar in its packaging until use. As with all veterinary products, do not allow children to play with the collar or put it in their mouths. Do not allow the animal wearing the collar to sleep in the same bed as the owner, especially if children are present. Imidacloprid and cyfluthrin are continually released from the skin and coat when the collar is worn. The product may cause allergic reactions in some people: people who are allergic to the components of the collar should avoid contact with veterinary medicines. In rare cases, this product may irritate the skin, eyes and respiratory tract of some people. If eyes are irritated, flush eyes thoroughly with cold water. For skin irritation, wash skin with soap and cold water. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor and show package directions or label. Remove all residue or debris from the collar immediately. Wash hands with cold water after wearing the collar.

4. Reactions at the application site, such as itching, redness and loss of hair, may occur in some cases. These reactions have been reported as uncommon and usually resolve within 1-2 weeks. In isolated cases, temporary removal of the collar may be recommended until the symptoms disappear.

5. In rare cases, more serious reactions may occur at the application site, such as dermatitis, inflammation, eczema, lesions or bleeding. In these cases, it is advisable to remove the collar. In addition, in rare cases, mild and transient reactions such as depression, changes in appetite, salivation, vomiting and diarrhoea may occur initially.

6. As with other topical applications, hypersensitive animals may develop allergic contact dermatitis. The frequency of adverse reactions is categorised as follows: very common (more than 1 in 10 treated animals shows adverse reactions); common (more than 1 but less than 10 animals per 100 treated); uncommon (more than 1 but less than 10 animals per 1,000 treated); rare (more than 1 but less than 10 animals per 10,000 treated); very rare (less than 1 animal per 10,000 treated, including isolated reports).

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:
Laboratory studies in rats and rabbits with both flumethrin and imidacloprid showed no effect on fertility or reproduction and no teratogenic or foetotoxic effects. However, as no data are available on the tolerability of the veterinary medicinal product during pregnancy and lactation in target animals, the product is not recommended for pregnant or lactating cats.

DIAGNOSIS AND PRESCRIPTION:
Sale is not restricted to pharmacies and does not require a veterinary prescription.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS:
In rare cases, in the first few days after application, behavioural disturbances may occur in animals not used to wearing collars, including hiding, vocalising, hyperactivity, excessive licking and/or grooming, or scratching at the application site. In very rare cases, aggression has been reported after application of the collar. Ensure that the collar is correctly adjusted.
